A marble look without the stone work

UV marble sheets and polygranite sheets are thin, light PVC-based panels with a printed marble or stone pattern. They are fixed straight onto a prepared wall or a plywood backing, so a feature wall can be finished without breaking anything or cutting stone on site.

They are popular for TV walls, bedroom headboard walls, living room feature walls, pillars, wardrobes and shop or cafe counters. The finish is easy to wipe clean, which makes them practical as well as decorative.

The result depends on the wall behind the sheet. A damp or uneven wall shows through as bubbles and lifted joints, so we check and prepare the wall before any sheet goes up.

Pair a feature wall with the right lighting. Our light fitting service covers profile lights and spotlights that make a marble wall stand out, and we also lay wooden flooring for the same room.

Where these sheets work, and where they don't

They are versatile, but they are not stone. Use them where they do well.

  • Good for: TV and feature walls, bedroom walls, columns, ceilings, wardrobe and cabinet fronts, reception and shop counters, bathroom walls away from the shower.
  • Avoid: floors, the wall right behind a gas stove, outdoor walls in strong sun, and walls with damp or seepage problems until those are fixed.
  • UV marble vs polygranite: pick UV marble for a glossy, polished-marble look. Pick polygranite for granite, stone or matte textures.
  • Joints: large sheets mean fewer joints. Matching the pattern across sheets and finishing edges with profiles is what makes the wall look like one surface.

How we fix the sheets

A neat wall comes from preparation more than from the sheet itself.

  1. Wall check: we look for damp, cracks and uneven areas.
  2. Preparation: the wall is levelled, or a plywood backing is fixed if needed.
  3. Layout: sheets are cut and arranged so the pattern flows and joints fall in sensible places.
  4. Fixing: sheets are fixed with a suitable adhesive and pressed flat.
  5. Finishing: edges and joints are finished with matching profiles or sealant, and the protective film comes off at the end.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

What is a UV marble sheet?

A thin PVC-based decorative sheet printed with a marble pattern and finished with a UV-cured coating. The coating gives it a high gloss and protects the print from scratches and fading. It is used on walls, not floors.

What is the difference between a UV marble sheet and a polygranite sheet?

Both are lightweight PVC-based sheets for walls and furniture. UV marble sheets copy polished marble and have a glossy UV coat. Polygranite sheets copy granite and stone patterns and come in gloss, matte and textured finishes.

Are UV marble sheets waterproof?

The sheet itself does not absorb water, so it works on bathroom walls away from the shower and in kitchens away from the stove. Joints and edges should be sealed properly, and the wall behind it must be dry before fixing.

UV marble sheet or real marble: which is better?

Real marble lasts longer and can be polished again, but it is heavy, costly and slow to install. UV marble sheets give a similar look at a fraction of the weight and time, with no stone cutting on site. They scratch more easily than stone, so they suit walls more than busy surfaces.
